My favorite part in the story "My Favorite Chaperone" is when Maya mistranslated the principal's word to her father. This is my favorite part because Maya saved her brother from receiving a harsh punishment. For example, in the text it states, "The other boy, who is very bad," I translated for Papa, "is not allowed to come to school for two days and his parents must punish him. Nurzhan must stay home, too. But he should not be punished so much." This means Maya cared about her brother enough to mislead her father into thinking Nurzhan was not equally responsible for the fight that he was a part of.
